Cozy Christmas Family Room

It is December and that means it is time to snuggle up in a soft blanket by the fire, turn on the Christmas music and enjoy the peace that comes because of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas!

Fall Blues

Fall is my favorite season! I absolutely love the deep rich colors that nature provides and all of the coziness that comes with it. For this design, I thought it would be fun to play with blues and textures to add new layers and depth to a fall living room.

Vintage Floral Bedroom

I have been binge watching a show that I recently discovered on Discovery Plus called “Unsellable Houses”. The creativity that these women have is amazing to me and very inspiring. I decided to play around a little today with a vintage design using a gorgeous floral rug. Enjoy!

Updated Family Room

This design is for a good friend of mine that just wanted an updated family room. She wasn’t sure how things could be arranged or what furniture she wanted, but did know that both her and her husband would like reclining chairs included in the design. Here is the before picture that she sent:

Here is the design I sent her:

I think you would have enough room to do two full couches that face each other, one that goes on the wall where your TV is now and the other one across from it. I would put a large area rug in the middle of the room and then have two leather recliner chairs that face the TV. I would move the TV to the wall that is across from the window and get a large white console that you would put the TV above. I didn’t put it in the picture but I would get a round metal black mirror to hang above your fireplace and then some nice artwork to hang above the couch that is on the wall that your TV is currently on. I would hang curtains to frame the window and then do some floating shelves on the wall that the window is on next to the window. I would get a large square coffee table to place in the middle of all the furniture.

Preteen Bedroom/Guest Room

I recently had a client that wanted to move her 11 year old daughter into a new bedroom that would also be serving as a guest room. She already had bedding that she loved, but wanted to upgrade the design and decorations to something that would work as her daughter gets older and also for guests. Here is the before picture:

This is the design that I created:

I would put the white chair in the nook with the cute mirror behind it. I would put the peachy/salmon rug under the bed with a natural wood nightstand and a creamy white fabric headboard. I would do white knotted curtains to frame the window and cute fairy lights on the wall opposite of the window. I know that you were going to use her room as a guestroom as well, but it is always fun for girls to have cute fairy lights in their room! It would also be cute to do a gallery wall with natural wood frames above the bed with artwork that matches the colors of the room or your daughters favorite photos. It would also be fun to add a sparkly chandelier or a flush mount above the chair in the nook as well. I would do white sheets under the floral bedding and blue throw pillows and a blue throw blanket to bring out the blues. When you make the bed, fold the comforter down so you can see the white sheets. And of course add some greenery either in the corner by the window or on a nightstand by the bed.

Sunnee Front Room

I have talked about Sunnee (the makeup artist friend) before. She asked me to help her with several more rooms in her house and her front room (after her makeup room) was what she chose to do next. She had already purchased several beautiful furniture items that she wanted to stay in the room, but needed help with the finishing touches. Here are her before pictures:

This is the design I created for her:

“I would get some curtains that go floor to ceiling to go around your window, add the rug, some throw pillows and a table in between the two chairs with either a lamp or some greenery on it. I would also add a tree over in the empty corner by the piano. I feel like your art work doesn’t necessarily need to pull the pink although this one that I put in your design does a tiny bit, but pulls more blue. You could pull more pink from your throw pillows and whatever stems you put in the vase on the console.”

Timeless Lavender Bathroom

This is a design that I did for a friend awhile back that I am finally getting around to posting. I had helped her with updating her master bedroom and she was ready to update her master bath as well. She wanted the design to be neutral and timeless and to flow nicely with the design that I had done for her master bedroom. This is the design that I did for her bedroom:

This is her bathroom design:

Ashley and Emily Dorm Room

I can’t believe this is happening, but my daughter Ashley is leaving for college in a few days! Where has the time gone? She is so excited that she gets to be roommates with her awesome cousin Emily! They asked me to come up with a design for their dorm room that had a cool, vintage vibe. They loved this design and we have already purchased everything in it and can’t wait to get to put it all together in their room soon!

Sunnee Makeup Room

My friend Sunnee is a fantastic makeup artist that asked for some help with adding color and decorating her makeup/ sewing room for her clients in her home. She has an artistic eye, so had already purchased some beautiful furniture, but wasn’t sure about the finishing touches to pull everything together. Here are her before photos:

These are the designs that I put together for her:

We went back and forth deciding on the perfect wallpaper and the actual art that she would use for her black and white gallery wall. This is the description that I gave her of how to apply the designs: “You would walk into your room and on the wall that you are looking at you would put this adorable wallpaper. You would keep your cute black and white desk but I would put a round mirror above it just to add style. I would move your black couch next to that desk and add an end table with a cute lamp and a natural wood coffee table in front of it and style the couch with some cute pillows that pull in colors from the wallpaper. I would get a large area rug like the one shown to put in the center of the room. I would add sheer white curtains to your windows just to add softness to the room. They would obviously just stay open and be for decoration purposes only. I would add a long floating shelf above the vanity where you do make up with decor styled on that shelf and some kind of cute art picture above the pink chair. On the wall opposite of where the couch would be I would get some large framed black and white quotes or pictures and add a tree with a natural woven basket.”

Thin Blue Line Office

I have a friend that is a police officer that reached out for some help with decorating her office at work. She wanted a modern style with a police theme. This was definitely a new challenge for me. Here are the before pictures of her office:

This is the design board I created for her:

I think it would look awesome to paint the room a light blue/gray color. Add a black-and-white modern rug and then some floating shelves on the wall by the window. You could layer the pictures and flag/decorations that I have in the design on the floating shelves. I would use the wall behind your desk as a command center for your bulletin board/whiteboard/plexi glass etc. In the corner by the wall across from your desk and window I would put the chair and throw pillows and a tree or some type of greenery to soften up the room.
